NH Staff Turnover

CMS began to publicly report nursing home staff turnover data in July 2022, covering turnover among registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing assistants. This Scorecard captures data published in January 2023 while looking back at the 12-month period of 2022. Nationally, turnover for these important roles exceeds 50 percent, meaning that more than half the nursing staff in nursing homes at the beginning of 2022 were no longer at the facility at which they worked by the end of the year. Across states, turnover ranged from about 40 percent to more than 60 percent.
